Wamena, It’s known as the Baliem valley with 1554 meters above sea level, about 60 km long and 16 km wide encircled by mountain peaks. The tribes of the Baliem Valley are usually ground together under the name “Dani”. The Dani farmers, skillfully working their fertile land, digging long ditches for irrigation and drainage and leaving the land fallow between crops. Beside it, Lani tribes also interest to visit who live of western Baliem Valley. Duration 08 Days / 07 Nights Southern Baliem Valley Trek and Dani Pig Feast DAY 01: JAYAPURA - ARRIVAL Arrival of Jayapura airport, met by Papua Adventure’s guide and transfer to your hotel for accommodation. DAY 02: JAYAPURA – WAMENA – KURIMA – KILISE Morning fly to Wamena, transfer by car to Kurima village where you will begin the trek with accompanied by your porters and cook, the starting point of the trekking to Kilise for about 3-4 hours. Afternoon explore village. Meals and stay at Dani local house. DAY 03: KILISE – HIHUNDES - SYOKOSIMO After breakfast, you proceed to descend the steep hill down to traditional hanging bridge across Baliem river. Today’s walk a little bit harder with narrow and slippery paths about 4-5 hours. After lunch in the village you can go to swim in the Mugi river. Late afternoon we can learn the activities of local people, stay overnight at traditional house DAY 04: SYOKOSIMO – SEIKAMA After breakfast, follow Mugi’s bank river and hike up to Seikma hill and enjoy the beautiful Baliem George. Lunch enroute, afternoon arrival at Sikama village and explore surrounding. Dinner and overnight at local house. DAY 05: SEIKAMA – SEIMA – SOGOKMO - WAMENA Breakfast and continue our last trekking of Dani village for about 5 hours to Sogokmo pasing Dani sweet potatoes gardens and Seima village. Lunch serve at Seima and continue to Sogomo where car waiting you there and take you back to Wamena. Lunch served en route. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel. DAY 06: WAMENA – DANI CEREMONIES OF PIG FEAST AND DANCE Driving to north part and See the old of Mummy and enjoy the Dani ceremonies of pig feast and dance, it will be held about 4-5 hours, here you may see how the Dani tribes cook on hot stones in traditionally. After this performance, continue walk to Suroba-Aikima villages and local market. DAY 07: WAMENA - JAYAPURA Morning flight back to Jayapura and you may have a full day sightseeing tour such as Mc. Arthur Monument, Sentani lake, Antropology museum and Jayapura down town. Overnight at hotel of Jayapura.
