Dancing to Death Opera at TIM
It had been quite long time since the last time I came to this place. Well, I visited the coffee shops of course, but not the theatre dome. Intriguing, I kept wondering how it would feel to be inside that art theatre again.
A friend invited me to come and watch the show. I brought a "serious" camera, of course, like I used to do. Hey, he said an Indonesian star will be performed in the show. Cornelia Agatha. I've heard about her performance since long ago, but no chances to witness. I sat there in front chair line, hoping for best spot for my camera. Surprisingly, the dome was almost half empty. Some of the audiences were the persons behind the scene.
Lamps were off, the show started to began. "Akan Jadi Malam" (The Night will Come), a dancing opera created by Jefriadi Usman. The performers started dancing, singing and showing unique expressions. The story said, death is coming, it can't be avoided. Everybody knows it. Each human being would react differently to it.
The opera described how people were growing and getting old. They were experiencing incredible moments on their way to be old. The show did not tell how scarry the death was. The end of a life has to be welcomed with happiness. In the scenes, an old lady was happily dying, because she had been missing her lover, and death will be the bridge to their meeting.
Too bad, the performance was too short, in my opinion. Not too many wavy scenes, nothing breathtaking. But overall, visiting the place again was really something. TIM (Taman Ismalin Marzuki) is located at Cikini area, with lots of coffee shops and bars, friendly roads and many food stalls. Brought some de javu and very personal memories of some particular ambiances.
I can check other art performances schedule from the huge ads in the front of the building complex. Errr... or you can simply check it here ;)
