Jakarta's Landmark
Several weeks ago, I went to MONAS. It’s a landmark
of Indonesia.
Every country in the world must have its own landmark or pride that makes them
famous and different from the other countries. If Malaysia
has Petronas twin tower and U.S.A has Liberty
statue as their landmarks, then Monas is a landmark of Indonesia especially in Jakarta city. Monas is the tall monument
located in the middle of Jakarta
city. MONAS is located at West Medan Merdeka in front of Istana Merdeka or Merdeka Palace.
The characteristics of this building describes of the replica tongue of fire that layered by gold in the top of this building. Inside of this monument, we can find a lot of historical story about Indonesia.
In addition, this monument also an exhibit several historical properties of Indonesia, and it is also provides a lift for carrying visitors to the upstairs or downstairs of this monument. The lift is able to carry 10 people. Once you arrived at the top of this monument you can see the sight of the whole Jakarta city from the top. You can see the view by using telescopes available there. There are 4 telescopes and to use it you have to pay Rp2000, 00 for a few minutes. This monument is opened for public everyday and the ticket price of the monument is Rp7500,00. When people pay this amount, they can go through the top of MONAS. There is also futsal court inside of MONAS area. Everyone can play futsal here, but unfortunately the usage of this court is not arranged well.
