The Macanese Way
It has been quite sometime since I went to Macau .. (The place of perfect mixture of Eastern's Great Hospitality & Western's Luscious Food) .. But the memories can still glimpsing & yet lingers in my mind.
I stayed at Lisboa Hotel which they say one of the oldest & best hotel there is. Well, it is quite true to me, the services were great, the rooms are spacious & unique, the casino, above all, was flirtatious. Did loose some amount on the first night but manage to win it back on the second night (gain a few to be exact ;p). I made a promise on the third night though, I wont spend another dime on the table..haha :D One our very first night, we had dinner at a restaurant (couldn't remember the name) that located about 15minutes walking distance from the hotel (exclude the shopping hours, of course!). The restaurant is cozy & homey like any other in macau, the foods were delicious & the drinks were very much indulging. Sounds to me, I had too much fun already before the trip even begin ;p
Next morning, on a tour, we went to an old church above the hills where the unique woodcut emblazoned the church walls. The view from above the church is magnificent and brings out Chinese believes that any space that serves water flowing in front and an upland hills at the back are fortunate. The church location was high enough for us to see the famous Macau Tower but not quite able to make us feel as frighten as the real height of the tower offers. I am so close to take this reeeeaaaalllly high, windy & scarily OUTSIDE CLIMBING, (I know! What was I thinking, right? yeah yeah, me & my big dumb curiousity!) BUT being phobia to height makes me cancelled that very thought of mine (Thank God I still have consciousness! I want to come back in one piece anyway). Afterwards, we went to a Vihara downtown, the place that people believes the origin on how Macau firstly found (something involves a rock, boat somehow became a gate, hehe ;p). It is fascinating, the blend, on how the Vihara kept very natural & religious and at the same time the surrounding seems discretionary nowadays.
Being starved going from places to places, we had lunch at a macanese restaurant (again, I can't recall the name) where they offer uniqueness over another great food. Guess the pictures can really tell that I enjoyed the restaurant more than the food (damn, never happen before! ;p) After that, we visit one of the historical relic in Macau, Ruins of the St. Paul. You can say you have visited Macau only if you went to Ruins of St. Paul, it is located strategically next to Museum of Macau that along the way serving you the beautiful scenery of Senado Square, Perfect! We then continue our shopping moments in Shenzhen (around an hour journey by boat, as i remember). Shenzhen offers you lots of cheap electronics & apparent fake bags. Tempting, it is, but I ended up only buying too many electronics that fortunately lasts 1 year (geez, so not suggested!)
Note : For efficiency's sake, it is advisable that you also visit Shenzhen & Hong Kong while you're travelling to Macau. Anyhow, those three places can create a benefited travelling combination in some-cheap-way. It is best that you consult with your travelling agency before making any itineraries.
Finally, to conclude it all, Macau is a place for those who long for great hospitality & luscious food, BUT Macau is not suggested to those who have gambling problem for it may cause severe damage of monetery! Travel Macau, not the Portuguese way - not the Chinese way .. but The Macanese Way!
