Lembang is about 30 minutes drive away from Bandung – Capital City of West Java, Indonesia. The town is the most popular destination for local tourists for its refreshing climate and the closest point to get to The Tangkupan Perahu volcano, Bandung’s main attraction.

Enjoyable tea plantation panorama makes it a nice place for family picnic. Lembang itself is crowded enough with traffic, street vendors, and traditional market activities.

Based on the geography, the volcanic soil that makes up the rolling hills around this area is extremely fertile. Horticultural and agricultural commodities are abundant.

The finest gardening products, such as fruits and vegetables make their way into Bandung's kitchens, and other cities, or even overseas. Plants and flowers are considered to be among the bests and relatively cheap.

Other favorites include "sate kelinci" (rabbit satay), "susu murni" (fresh cow milk) and sweet corn. Downy rabbits are available at street stalls, and ready to be put on barbeque. Cow milk is sold at various places, the biggest is Kencana Lembang, where visitors can drink milk or yoghurt in old converted cow stables. Don’t forget also to see the process of milking the cows there.

Not too far from Lembang, there is Maribaya Resort with hot springs into a public pool. Still in the area, visitors can enjoy forests and waterfalls. But usually the place is quite crowded on weekends.
Yet, it is very easy to get accommodation in various categories.

How to get there

Go to Bandung city as the capital city for West Java Province. From here, there are many roads to go to Lembang.

-         A steep and meandering road departs from Dago Bengkok (after the angkot terminal take the left fork), there's a new road that is even steeper on the left side just after the terminal, but make sure your vehicle can cope with the climbs.

-         Jalan Ciumbuleuit also connects to Lembang but the fastest way is through Jalan Setiabudi, this road has more traffic but easier to drive on than the others.

-         Angkots or minivan public transportation will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes to get there, but to really enjoy the views it is suggested to go either with private car or motorcycle.
