It is a spacious outdoor eating place at night in Surabaya city and one of the best places, Kya-kya Kembang Jepun is the right choice. It’s a road, with long 750 meters and wide 20 meters. At Noon, it is a hectic road on grocery trade and the economic center in the east area of the country. It looks like a wallstreet in US. When the evening comes, the road turns into a full of hundreds food & beverages sellers area. The warm ambiance is very comfortable and safe. Having dinner recreation by unlimited typical food and beverages, starts from local food, Chinese, European, traditional food. The place even invites youngsters’ victuals; included snacks, such as burger and pizza.

Beside that, not only about dining’s available on the road, but also the souvenir blocks, live entertainment, like boxing. Visitors will have great experience when walking on the road with Chinese town atmosphere, plus some entertainment such as light music on the corner stage. Occasionally, the management provides promotion space or holds an artistic or trade exhibition of small-scale craft.

Jalan Kembang Jepun is coming up to culinary world in the country with old popularity into refresh new face created in 2003 by the local government. It’s a new icon culinary place in Indonesia. This icon doesn’t represent on food and beverages only, but it exits with some spirits to support culinary itself.

Government viewed this road as a potential place for some reasons. The character of ‘Pecinan’- had been established for centuries with the history of journey toward trading center area, hundreds year ago, that brought deeper strong economic & culture in the north area of Surabaya. The strength was bringing Kembang Jepun into a new powerful area as Kya-kya Kembang Jepun. (Kya-Kya means hanging out or sight seeing – hok-kian language). “The spirit of place” of Kembang Jepun is the most magnets itself. On the south of Jalan Kembang Jepun area still left some of ancient Chinese housings or buildings. One thing to be remembered by citizens, the refreshment project of Kya-kya was planned in five weeks with numbers of discussion and finally done on May 31st 2003. Officially, Kya-kya Kembang Jepun opened on that day, as the 710th birthday of Surabaya city. The city took it as a great momentum to gather people in distribute for their own beloved city.

How to get there

Kya-kya Kembang Jepun located in Pecinan Area of Surabaya, exactly in Kembang Jepun, it is opposite the Jembatan Merah (red bridge). It opens at 18pm till mid of night on weekdays, and closed by 2 or 3am on weekend.

Absolutely, to get Surabaya city is the first point. There are many flights with destination to Juanda Airport – Surabaya. This location can be reach easily from every corner in the city.
