Deerland Park

Deerland Park

Deerland Park – a private zoo about 5 km from the Kuala Ganda Elephant Sanctuary.

As we were told to be early to collect passes for the Sanctuary, we were there at 10.00 a.m.  The activities at the sanctuary only start at 2.00 p.m.  How to keep children from whining, while being entertained and occupied for 4 hours?

That’s where the Deerland Park comes in.  The proprietor is a Mr. Abdullah, a nice jovial chap who is passionate about his animals.  If there are not too many visitors during your visit, he’ll give you a personal tour.

It’s quite an interactive zoo.  You get to feed the deer and some of the other animals too.  The food is provided free by the zoo itself.

There are not too many varieties of animals, but what animals there are don’t appear too stressed as those you see at the National Zoo here in Kuala Lumpur.  It is also clean and well managed.

Entry fee is only RM5.00 for adults and RM3.00 for children below 12.  Donations are also welcome – there are separate donation boxes meant for the staff and for the animals.  With the friendly and helpful staff, and all the fun that we had (including the child inside of me) one cannot help but be generous after the visit.
