North Halmahera was born in 2003, a young regency where located in the eastern of Indonesia and administratively it’s part of North Maluku province. Tobelo is the capital city with wonderful places, especially beaches and cultures.

The people do their living mostly on farming or fishing. The genuine ethnic is the major citizen on this land, such as Tobelorese, Lolodarese, Konese, Pagu, and Modole. The remaining - only ten percent - are immigrants from Java, Sulawesi, and Makian Island tribe, a place with peaceful tiny islets, wonderful white sand beaches.

There are 115 islands surrounding this spice island to the west and the Halmahera Sea to the east. Visitors will enjoy affluent coral reefs teemed with diversity remarkable species fish and marine life. The rain forest grows mixture flora and fauna. One more attractive spot to explore is the unusual tradition with distinctive culture as well as relic history of the land from the world war two.

Maritime is the best one to explore with the most natural beaches, such as Kupakupa, Posposi, Dodola, Luari, and more. Fishing and diving are exciting activities to do. Never regret to visit this marvelous pearl.

Recently, the government concerns on the development toward this great prospective tourism object. They realize many potential places in the district to be developed.

How to get there

Fly to North Halmahera with four hours journey by plane from Jakarta to Manado, then an hour flight from to Ternate. After that, take a speed boad or traditioanl boad for one hour and then by car for three hours. More info about the island please click here and flight schedules please click here
